Parenting Course for Childhood Anxiety

I am happy to announce that I will be starting a new Parenting Class based on the model of Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). This group is for parents of children with fairly significant anxiety that impacts the dynamics of the whole family.

Typical issues that will be addressed by this class are children or teens who are negatively impacted by anxiety in some way, such that you feel they are “held back” by their anxiety and cannot do things that their same-aged peers can do. For example, does your child struggle with separation anxiety or participating in extracurriculars?

The one requirement for this class is that you, as a parent, feel that you or other family members are also impacted by your child’s anxiety. Does your child require you to help them with their anxiety? Do you have elaborate sleep routines in order to help your child sleep? Do you have to stay close to your child to help their anxiety? Do you have to participate in rituals or “follow rules” or else your child’s anxiety will escalate? These are examples of behaviors we can target in this class.

If you are interested in this class but you are unsure if your family could benefit, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss over the phone if this class would be helpful for you.

I am beginning my first class on Wednesday October 5th and the class will run for eight weeks on Wednesday evenings. I will also be keeping a waitlist for future classes.
